Expert Witness

Cutty Sark Station and southbound running tunnel towards GreenwichThe Lewisham Extension of the Dockland Light Railway was built in the 1990s by a consortium, City Greenwich Lewisham Rail Link. After a few years operation the tunnels between Island Gardens, Cutty Sark and Greenwich Stations, including a section under the River Thames, began to leak. This resulted in a dispute between the consortium and the DLR. The original contract had provision for adjudication and therefore the case was taken to the Adjudicator. Our Technical Director was the author of the Standard to which the tunnel had been designed and was asked to be an expert witness at the adjudication by one of the consortium members, Nishimatsu Construction Company Limited. The Adjudicator found in favour of the consortium.
